Kinesiology Taping in Gdańsk
Kinesiology Taping
Kinesiology taping is available as a standalone, up to 30 minute appointment at my clinic in Gdańsk. Each session includes a short assessment, the taping itself, and clear advice on looking after the tape at home. Appointments are in English on Thursdays at FizjoTeam Fizjoterapia, ul. Juliusza Słowackiego 77.
What is kinesiology taping?
Kinesiology tape, known in Poland as kinesiotaping, is a stretchy elastic cotton tape applied directly to the skin. Unlike rigid sports tape, it stretches and recoils as you move, so you can work, train and get on with your day while wearing it. It is widely used in sport and rehabilitation settings alongside hands-on treatment and exercise.
I want to be honest with you here. Research into how kinesiology tape works is still developing, and it is not a treatment on its own. Many people find the tape comfortable to wear and like the sense of support and body awareness it gives them. I use it as one tool alongside assessment, treatment and movement, and I will tell you plainly if I think it is not the right fit for you.
What happens in a session?
Your appointment may last up to 30 minutes. We start with a short conversation about the area you would like taped and what is going on in your life at the moment, whether that is training for a race, returning to sport after a break, or a physically demanding week at work. I then assess the area, apply the tape, and show you how to look after it.
Most applications stay on for three to five days. The tape is water resistant, so you can shower as normal. Pat it dry rather than rubbing it, and remove it slowly when the time comes. I will talk you through all of this before you leave.
Who is this for?
- Runners and gym-goers who want taping before an event or a heavy training block
- Patients between osteopathy sessions who want their tape reapplied
- People who have had taping before, liked it, and want it applied properly
- Anyone curious about taping who wants an honest assessment of whether it suits them
Sensitive skin
Your safety is paramount. If you have sensitive skin, or you have reacted to plasters or tape in the past, please mention it when you book. I can apply a small test patch before taping a larger area. If the tape ever causes itching, burning or irritation once you are home, take it off and let me know.
Common questions
How long does the tape stay on?
– Usually three to five days. It is water resistant, so showering is fine. Heavy sweating, swimming and very humid weather can shorten its life.
Does it hurt to remove?
– It should not, if you take it off slowly. Removing it in the shower, or after rubbing a little oil into the tape, makes it easier. I will show you how in the session.
Can I exercise with the tape on?
– Yes. The tape is designed to move with you, and most people wear it through training, work and sleep without noticing it much.
